Just steps from Playa Grande's white-sand beaches, El Reinas touts itself as a "poshtel" that provides energy, passion and fun for its guests. Most guests come for the surfing. The hotel sits right on three miles of beach that is known for providing wave conditions that are perfect for beginners and trained surfers alike and considered one of the best surf spots in the area. The area has consistent waves that create excellent surfing conditions all year, but off-shore winds blow from December to April and make the best waves. The area is also known for its many surfing adventures, including the world-famous Witches Rock. Many surfers book the hotel's vehicle, the Monkey Rover, for personalized surfing adventures. Packages and lessons are available. Guests can choose to take one lesson or an entire course. Boards and rash guards are provided during lessons.
Of course, even the most experienced surfers need to take a break once in a while. El Reinas also provides an outdoor pool. Visitors can spend the day floating around, swimming laps or simply soaking up the sun. Other options include working up a sweat in the on-site fitness center, spending the afternoon in the game room or riding horses up and down the coast.
Naturally, visitors are going to get hungry. El Reinas restaurant serves breakfast all day as well as a variety of lunch and dinner items. Every item on the menu is cooked to order. Choose from traditional breakfast items or get adventurous by checking out Enrico's Special. Lunch and dinner options include burgers, salads, burritos and much more. The restaurant also makes delicious smoothies and features a full bar that serves a variety of local and imported beers as well as a range of cocktails. The entire restaurant and bar area is an open-air environment, and all dishes are created using fresh local ingredients.
El Reinas provides a front desk that offers additional amenities. A helpful and attentive staff can help guests store luggage, find dry cleaning and laundry services and purchase tickets or reserve tours.

El Reinas features nine guestrooms to provide a quiet yet fun atmosphere for its guests. Each room is individually decorated and features the natural wood, gorgeous tile and bright colors that have become synonymous with Costa Rica. Air conditioning and fans are available in each room to maintain a comfortable temperature for guests as they sleep or relax. All rooms provide a private bathroom outfitted with a shower, hot water and complimentary toiletries. Free wireless internet is available in each room, and housekeeping is provided daily.
Superior Queen Room - This beautifully appointed room includes a private balcony that allows its occupants to relax and unwind with a drink as they look out at the natural beauty of Playa Grande.
Double Room - Double rooms provide one queen bed.
Double Room with Two Singles - These rooms offer two twin beds.
Quadruple Room for Mixed Dorms - These mixed dorm rooms have four twin beds.
Quadruple Room - These rooms offer one queen bed and two twin beds.
Comfort Suite - This suite offers more space than the other rooms and has one queen bed.
Playa Ventanas - An excellent spot for surfing, swimming and boogie boarding, Playa Ventanas offers a little bit of everything. Out of the water, visitors can explore caves, relax under palm trees, check out natural rock formations or simply follow a few hermit crabs as they go about their days.
Monkey Park - Vacationers who love animal rescues will love visiting Monkey Park. The park rescues injured or displaced wildlife, including monkeys, birds, sloths and other exotic animals, and rehabilitates them before releasing them back into the wild. While they recuperate, guests can view them in their natural habitats.
Hacienda Pinilla Golf Club - Hacienda Pinilla Golf Club is the perfect spot for people who love nature as much as they love golfing. The course was designed to conform to its natural surroundings and overlooks the Pacific Ocean. The gated community also features a pro golf shop.
