Situated above the rainforest canopy, Suntrails Lodge can only be accessed by aerial bridge. During your stay, you can relax by the hotel's pool and enjoy the views, take a hike to the nearby waterfalls or head to the picturesque town of Montezuma for some shopping and good eats.
Suntrails Lodge is an experience in and of itself. Situated above the canopy, this hotel has stunning views of both the ocean and the rainforest and can only be accessed by a suspension bridge. With just six rooms, the place is cozy and intimate, perfect for allowing guests to enjoy their natural surroundings without interference from the outside world. If you want to maximize your experience in Costa Rica, there's no better way to do so than by staying at Suntrails Lodge.
You can really soak up the views from the hotel's pool or lobby, both of which feature cozy furniture and lounge chairs. However, though great views are nice, they're not going to entertain you for the duration of your stay. Fortunately, there is a lot to do in the area. Montezuma Waterfalls are just a short hike from the inn. The falls in and of themselves are worth hiking for, but once there, you will discover refreshing pools of water in which you can soak and cool off.
If you would rather relax and soak up the sun than take a hike, the white sands of Montezuma Beach are just a short distance away. Once there, you can sunbathe, swim or look for marine turtles. The beach happens to be home to the NGO for marine turtle conservation. If you're lucky, you will be in town during the hatching season, during which baby turtles slowly make their way from land to sea.
Though Suntrails Lodge may seem secluded, it just a short 700 meters outside of the beautiful little town of Montezuma. There you will discover artisan shops, casual and fine dining options, food markets, bars and more. Explore the shops by day and stick around at night to see what Costa Rican nightlife is really like.
If you want to get a taste of the area's culture, take a walk to the Cabuya Island Cemetery. That's right, you can walk to an island. At low tide, the water is shallow enough that you can walk from mainland to the sanctuary without getting more than your feet wet. The island is a place created by the people of the community to celebrate their deceased loved ones and, as such, is rich in both history and culture.
Cabo Blanco National Park, Costa Rica's first protected area, is a little less than a two-hour hike through the forest. Curu Park is also nearby and is ideal for strolling and catching an up-close glimpse of wildlife in various habitats.
