Tucked between a national park and the Golfo Dulce, Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge offers guests their very own ideal jungle retreat and remote getaway.
Nature Lovers Rejoice at Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge
Have you dreamed of staying in the heart of one of Costa Rica’s biggest rainforests? At Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge, you can make those dreams come true!
This beautiful eco lodge is nestled within
Piedras Blancas National Park on the Osa Peninsula. It is located in the
Southern Costa Rica (w/ Golfito) area of the
South Puntarenas region, home of scenic views of the jungle and coastline. Rainforest adventures await in this tropical paradise.
San José International Airport (SJO) is 325 kilometers (201 miles) from Playa Nicuesa. If you choose to take a
domestic flight to Golfito or
Puerto Jimenez, you can arrange the rest of your travel with the hotel staff. The Nicuesa transfer boat operates from the early morning to 3:00 PM each day, so be sure to arrive before then.
Note that the hotel is only accessible via boat, so you won’t be able to drive all the way there yourself. Still, this just adds to the hotel’s secluded, exclusive atmosphere.
Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge is notable for its commitment to ecotourism and other sustainable practices. It’s one of the
best eco lodges in Costa Rica, combining an eco-friendly way of life with all-encompassing access to the surrounding jungle.
Quaint cabins with jungle views surround an open-air main house up at canopy level. There, you can have a few drinks at the terrace bar or do some stargazing at night.
The beautiful and rustic on-site restaurant is also located within the main house on the second floor with views of the rainforest and Golfo Dulce. Dine on locally-sourced healthy meals prepared by the on-site chef while being surrounded by the rainforest. Fresh-squeezed juices, salsas, locally-caught seafood, and local favorites are among the many delicious dishes served family style.
Playa Nicuesa also offers special retreats and packages for visitors seeking a more upscale stay. Choose from family friendly activity packages, calming yoga retreats, adventurous jungle explorations, honeymoon accommodations, and more. Large groups can even rent the entire hotel to celebrate a special event or simply enjoy an all-inclusive getaway.
Guest room at Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge
The rooms at Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge embody the spirit of Costa Rica’s booming ecotourism industry. These secluded cabins overlook both the ocean and the rainforest. The hotel’s eco-friendly practices help preserve the natural biological diversity of the Osa Rainforest through limited development of the area and sustainably sourced energy.
All room styles have hardwood floors, terraces that wrap around the cabin, and ceiling fans. Privacy is a priority here, as each room lets you feel totally surrounded by the jungle with open air showers.
Doubles
There’s nothing quite like living and sleeping right next to the jungle. In Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge’s double rooms, you only have to look out the window to catch a glimpse of huge trees and wild animals. To feel immersed in the rainforest, you don’t even need to leave your room.
One bedroom cabins are furnished with a queen bed, but you can request two twin beds if you prefer.
Two Bedroom Cabin
The two bedroom cabin is located close to the main lodge, though this doesn’t detract from the jungle views. It’s ideal for families and other large groups. These cabins have two bedrooms as well as a living room that can be converted into a third bedroom if needed.
Alternatively, stay in the cabin suite if you’d prefer a little more flexibility. The suite is beloved by couples who want a little extra privacy, but it’s also functional for families thanks to the sliding partition which turns one large bedroom with a seating area into two bedrooms.
Guest Houses
Guest houses come in two different styles, these being the Mango Guest House and Jaguar House. Both options have two stories and multiple bedrooms, making them perfect for big friend groups and company retreats.
The Mango Guest House has four private rooms with queen or twin beds. In the Jaguar House, the first floor contains one bedroom, a full bath, and a living room. Upstairs, there’s a master bedroom and another smaller bedroom. You’ll also find a loft with a private bath and open terrace.
