Getting to Nosara
Even though Nosara is a small, remote town, it is still easy to reach. The simplest way to travel to Nosara, by far, is by plane. The Nosara domestic airport receives only charter flights and domestic flights through Nature Air from San Jose. While your flight from the capital of Costa Rica will only take about 35 minutes, it may be even more convenient to take a charter flight. This gives you more control over flight times, letting you plan your vacation to Costa Rica more freely, filling every minute with exciting tropical adventures. Remember that Nosara features many exquisite accommodations, including many resorts and hotels. Many of the town’s hotels offer free shutter service to and from the local air strip, although it is not difficult or expensive to hire a taxi for the short trip into Nosara. Total, the drive from the Nosara domestic airport is only about 15 minutes.
The Nearby Wildlife Refuge
One of the most popular and famous attractions in Nosara is the Ostional Wildlife Refuge. This National Park takes the form of a 200 meter beach strip. It is the second most important turtle nesting beach in Costa Rica. The refuge is best known for its sea turtles which come to nest on this beach every year. If you plan your trip at the right time, you may even be able to come and see the turtles dragging themselves up the sand to lay their eggs in person. Lesser known, the wildlife refuge also protects a wide range of fish and birds which call the area home. In fact, the refuge actually extends several miles out into the ocean.
