You can find affordable places to stay, but most places will be based on all-inclusive packages. To get to Drake Bay, you catch a boat from Sierpe, a tiny town with a few budget hotels along the river banks.

If you find yourself visiting the Corcovado National Park, there are high-end lodges and hotels at your service on either the north end at Drake Bay or the south end at Carate. You can find more affordable options in the town of Puerto Jimenez, which is located in the south of the Osa Peninsula.

Other relaxing towns in South Puntarenas worth visiting include Matapalo, Piedras Blancas National Park, Playa Zancudo and Pavones, which all offer accommodations for the budget traveler and the big spenders. Another town worth visiting is Golfito, which offers some good fishing opportunities, and the Golfito National Wildlife Refuge.
