North Puntarenas region has a vast and varied landscape, with stunning cloud forests to the north and lush rainforests along the central areas of the province. The beaches along this part of the country of Costa Rica are incredible as well with plenty of great surfing on hand. Jaco, Playa Hermosa, Dominical, Mal Pais and Playa Santa Theresa all offer some amazing surf breaks. The sportfishing is good in this part of the country as well with Quepos being a key sportfishing area. Also found in North Puntarenas is the lovely Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio.
Bars can be found all over most of the cities and towns in North Puntarenas. You will find plenty of bars in Jaco, which is one of the main party towns along the Central Pacific Coast of North Puntarenas. There are several nightclubs in town as well. For a good time, La Bruja is a great bar in town with a mellow relaxing ambiance, however, for a more fun night out, La Hacienda is one of the most popular bars in the city. Fusion and Disco La Central offer some great dancing, while Onyx is one of the trendiest spots in town to be seen at.
Quepos acts as a gateway to the Manuel Antonio National Park as well as a world-class sport fishing destination. There are a number of lively bars here for you to have a great night out. Mary Blues, Wacky Wanda’s and Hard Croc Café attract a more younger crowd, while to swamp some good fishing stories head to the El Gran Escape.

There are a few bars in the north of the province around the Monteverde and Santa Elena area, while Puntarenas, the provincial also has some popular nightspots. Mal Pais, Santa Theresa, Montezuma and Tambor, also have plenty of bars. Montezuma has a reputation of being a laidback and carefree town with a number of good places to grab a drink. Chico’s Bar is the most well known taprooms in town.
