Weddings in Guanacaste

The Guanacaste region is known for its impeccable white-sand coast and dry tropical climate attracting visitors from far and wide. Liberia

Liberia is the province's biggest and most vibrant city, and provides a number of historic attractions to enjoy before and after the wedding. Liberia is rich with colonial charm, from its red tile roofed homes to its surrounding cattle culture. Your wedding guests will enjoy strolls through Parque Central, home to the unique Nicaraguan grackle (known for its tone-deaf squawks) and borders the iconic Iglesia Inmaculada Concepcion de Maria. This colonial white church's clean lines are not everyone's cup of tea, so if you're looking for something a bit more grandiose, head to Liberia's oldest church, La Iglesia de la Ermita de la Resurrección. If you are planning for a summer wedding, avoid booking on July 25, the Dia de Guanacaste, a festival that celebrates the province's independence from Nicaragua.

Monteverde Cloud Forest

Conservationist couples as well as nature enthusiasts will find the Monteverde Cloud Forest to be one of the finest spots to enjoy the unique beauty Guanacaste. Hills and valleys here are often enveloped in swirling clouds of blue mist, giving the entire preserve a mystic elegance. Monteverde is also home to the small village of Santa Elena, a unique Quaker agricultural development that was founded by U.S. expatriates in the 1950s. If you and your wedding guests are interested in the past and current preservation initiatives, you can head to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Ecological Center; otherwise, just enjoy the truly mesmerizing natural surroundings here.

Spa-worthy Pursuits

Your wedding party will want to pamper themselves a bit before you say your vows, so why not enjoy the therapeutic powers of some of Guanacaste's most relaxing outdoor arenas? On the flanks of Arenal Volcano sits the Tabacon Hot Springs, a series of pools that are heated by the geothermal energy from the volcano below. If you don't mind getting a little dirty, you can head to the Las Hornillas Volcanic Hot Springs to enjoy an exfoliating volcanic mud bath. Guanacaste definitely provides some of the most unique spa experiences in the country, and are perfect for the more adventurous wedding parties.

Rincon de la Vieja National Park

Animal lovers will flip for this national park, which is home to Costa Rican residents such as armadillos, leisurely sloths, slow-moving tapirs and three species of talkative monkeys. Wedding parties with small children will enjoy the wide variety of trails and wildlife sightings available here, which is a perfect pre- or post-wedding ceremony excursion.

The park is also a great place to enjoy a horseback ride, as there are several ranches in and around the park that offer daily rentals. It's the perfect way to embrace the province's cowboy history and its natural beauty!
